What is hybrid publishing?

Hybrid models are uniquely tailored to authors’ needs by offering the creative control of self-publishing along with the quality production and distribution of traditional publishing.

In this system, the author funds production, and in return, receives a higher royalty than they would through a traditional publisher. It’s different from traditional publishing, where the publisher covers every cost but keeps most of the royalty, and different from self-publishing, where the author handles everything (funding, editorial, design, and distribution) on their own. Hybrid sits in between: the author invests, and the publisher takes on the editorial, design, production, and trade

distribution work.

Because traditional publishing tends to pass on books that are visually ambitious, niche, or hard to fit into a mass-market plan, we chose hybrid so that we can say yes to those books and make them to a standard that traditional budgets often won’t allow.
